Tala is a young British lighting brand with a mission to create exquisite products that have a positive impact on the world.
Originating from the African concept of conservation through beauty, the designs combine classic decorative qualities, industrial influences and pioneering LED technology.
Tala was founded by four partners at The University of Edinburgh with a shared passion for technology, sustainability and design. The company is based in London Fields, East London, with a busy team of 18.
Thanks to exciting developments in materials science, we are now able to design lighting with a strong shift from the functional towards the emotional - lighting as an experience is the backbone of the Tala range. The fast-paced and collaborative approach to materials, finishes, manufacturing techniques and new technologies is what keeps Tala at the forefront of a new style of lighting manufacture.
When you purchase a Tala light you’re investing in our ethos. This is represented in every detail, from the packaging down to our tree planting programme. The Tala Ten Trees programme pledges that for every 200 units sold we plant 10 trees, making our products truly carbon-negative.
Our LED lights are up to 90% more efficient than their incandescent counterparts.
Lighting usually accounts for up to 40% of your electricity bill. With our A++ energy rating, Tala LEDs use roughly one tenth of the energy required by traditional incandescent light bulbs. Our customers can see a return on investment in as little as 10 months.
Alongside the energy savings, a Tala convert will also save money on electricity bills and bulb replacement costs over the 30,000-hour average lifespan of the product (10 years).
Finally, this product is carbon-negative. For every 200 units sold we plant 10 native trees here in the UK, helping us to give back to our natural environment and reduce our customers' carbon footprint in the process.
